YAYE

"From the “sapeurs” community in Congo, the colorful adornments commonly worn by the Massaii to the ephemeral art of bodypainting the tribes from the Ethiopian valley are known for, the sense of fashion across the African continent has seemingly been one putting vibrance, elegance and colorfulness forward. “YAYE” is a story paying hommage to traditional African style and elegance through photography. By mixing contemporary elements with traditional West African and particularly Senegal fashion, the series, also heavily inspired by the style seen in Djibril Diop Mambety’s 1992 film “Hyenas” gives an insight on the timelessness and elegance of Senegalese style.
