"Poetry in Motion" is a photography series paying homage to the art of movement in subsaharan African cultures. Featuring Axelle Munezero, a dancer and choreographer from Burundi and taking visual inspirations from abstract paintings, the series pulls from the experience and perspective of both the photographer and the subject and attempts to depicts the simultaneous fluidity and sturdiness of movements seen in dances all over the African continent through an artistic lens. Fabrics and colours are used to enhance the range and motion of the movements, creating a body of work in which colours, textures and movements all meet to create almost surreal imagery.
