“Daughter of the Lake” is a series inspired by Gabonese folklore surrounding mermaids and other various spirits. Stories of figures such as Mami Wata and others have always been present as part of the culture in several countries across Western and Central Africa and particularly in Gabon where these spirits have important places in the local fables, folklore and other stories. The series wants to pay homage to this part of Gabonese folklore by having the woman in the images become a representation reminiscent of these figures.
